Once a quarter, if the student misses class due to improper footwear, they have the opportunity to make up points and raise one grade up to a 10 out of 10 if they attend a make-up session or complete a supplementary packet. If your child is not wearing proper footwear, they sit out and receive 5 out of 10 points for the day. Cleats, Crocs, sandals, Keens, Mary Jane-Style dress shoes, boots, flip flops, slip-ons, and the like are NOT ACCEPTABLE! Proper shoes are tennis shoes that cover the whole foot and can be tightened by laces or Velcro. The only exclusion for PE participation will be inappropriate shoes. It is extremely important that your child is dressed in comfortable clothing when participating in PE, as the exercise is quite rigorous and clothing that is not flexible may cause chafing and discomfort. Students who are not in proper PE dress attire are expected to participate. In the middle school level, the focus is the refinement of sports skills, understanding rules for various activities, and fitness.Īll students will participate in regularly scheduled physical activity. In the i ntermediate level, the focus is on the introduction of sports skills and continuing to improve fitness levels. In the primary level, the focus is on fundamental locomotor movements, manipulative skills, non -manipulative skills, and fitness in game play.
